The Person Behind AGL Photography

Hi, I'm Alex. I'm a Cambridgeshire based pet and wedding photographer with a huge passion for what I do.

Away from the camera

When I'm not photographing or working on things behind the scenes I will usually be spending my time with my two gorgeous dogs, Wilma and Sasha and my horse, Arthur. I no longer ride competitively but still enjoy a hack around the farm a couple of days a week. I absolutely love walking and hiking with my fiancé and also travelling the world. I am a strong believer in experiences over material things.

On the rare occasion I'm actually home, I enjoy getting stuck into a good book, I love a thriller or a romantasy novel. I am also a big foodie and love going out for dinners and trying new things. My favourites include Japanese and Mexican. I'd take a night in playing games with friends over a night out anytime and I am the biggest coffee addict you will ever meet.

How it all started

I have loved photography since the age of about 14 and would always be stealing my mums camera to do mini photoshoots in the paddock with my pony and a tripod. In 2021 I had an accident that ended with an operation on my knee and being stuck in a full cast for three months. My friends kept me sane by taking me out to watch them at riding lessons and competitions. I picked up my camera again and realised that I enjoyed photographing competitions more than I did riding at them. After that I started photographing for local riding clubs and my business took off from there. I took a course at a collage to learn more about what my camera could do and the editing side of things alongside multiple online classes and hours of self-teaching.

Since then my experiences have continued to grow and so has my collection of cameras, lenses, props and so much more equipment. I finally branched out into weddings in 2024 and I have to say, this area has taken off so much faster than I ever expected. I am so grateful to those early couples for putting their trust in me and helping me find my feet in this industry. It definitely hasn't been easy but I have loved every step of the journey.
